Abstract
This article deals with the young women educational institutions in Irkutsk (the orphanage of Medvednikova, the girls’ institute in the name of the emperor Nicolay I, the ecclesiastical school for girls, the female school of the second rank) which construction was financed by the merchant class and contributed by the enlightened merchants of Irkutsk.
