Abstract
The article considers the formation of urban population of Irkutsk fortress and town. It provides data on the quantitative and the social composition of the town. The author analyzes the main areas of economic activities, development of economic relations during the conquest Baikal Siberia, as well trading relations of dwellers of Irkutsk with Mongolia and China.
