Irkutsk Maryinsky Community of Sisters of Mercy of the Red Cross during the First World War

Abstract
On the basis of a wide range of archival materials the article reveals for the first time the activity of Irkutsk Maryinsky community of the sisters of mercy in the First World War. The author focuses on the recruitment process. Particular attention is drawn to the work of the sisters of mercy at the front and in the rear. Besides, the author considers changes that occurred in the community after the February and October revolutions.
