Abstract
The article deals with the life and activities of Saint Innocent Metropolitan of Moscow and Kolomna. The author considers Metropolitan’s social and political viewpoint, his quotations on spiritual principles of the state, as well as his assessment of the activities of Alexander II. The article reveals problems in the reformation of the Church. It attempts to compare the life of Saint Innocent Metropolitan with the life of a historian A. P. Shchapov.
