Abstract

The article analyzes activities of the members of Academic detachment of the Second Kamchatka Expedition (1733–1743) on gathering items of material culture of the indigenous peoples of Siberia. Thousands of these items, being principally samples of clothing and footwear, laid the foundations for the ethnographic collection of the Emperor's Kunstkamera Museum. The inventories of items sent from Siberia to Saint-Petersburg are published in the appendices. These inventories are important sources for reconstruction of traditional garments of Siberian peoples, as most of these items were destroyed by the fire in Kunstkamera Museum in 1747.
