In order to protect the gains of the revolution a resolution to form national military unit was adopted in BM ASSR in the 1920s. The Buryat Cavalry Brigade was formed according to the legislation of the USSR. The decree of the All-Russian Central Executive Committee and the Council of People’s Commissars “Active Duty Recall of Buryat-Mongolian People” adopted on August 28, 1925 was the main legal act on compulsory military service of the Buryats on a common basis. It was the result of mass organizational and legal and propaganda work carried out by the Party and Soviet authorities of the BM ASSR.
