The article is devoted to the problem of partition of German and Japanese fleets after World War II and the warships yielding to the Soviet Union. The purpose of the article is to clarify the types of the ships that were transferred as reparations and captured as trophies, as well as to determine the effect of that large-scale seizures of ships both onto the Soviet naval policy and the program of disarmament of Germany and Japan, that was defined in the course of Potsdam Conference.
