The Letters of Timofey M. Basnin to His Children (1797)

Abstract
Three letters of a well-known Irkutsk merchant Timofey M. Basnin to his sons, written in 1797, are presented. These documents emphasize the importance of literacy for the successful merchant commerce. The texts include the details of daily life and commercial activities of the Basnins and also mention some famous contemporaries.
