The article considers the problems of social mobility of the youth through the development of the system of general and professional education in Siberia. The author reveals the contradictions in the implementation of the soviet policy towards social mobility of children from workers’ and peasants’ families. The author emphasizes that the higher level of culture in the families of intellectuals and employees enabled high rate of descendents of that environment at the top of the educational system.
