Author(s)
N. P. Matkhanova
Abstract
The article examines unpublished documents from the Russian State Historical Archives on a notorious case on the punishment procedures committed by the district police officer Loskutov over the archpriest Orlov. The case was considered in the supreme echelons of government and lead to the dismissal of Siberian Governor-General I. B. Pestel and Irkutsk Governor N. I. Treskin. The documents contain substantial information on life, work activities and relationship of local officials and representatives of clergy. Besides, the documents provide some data on the number of Tofalars (the Karagas) in 1817.
