Celebrations to commemorate 100-years anniversary of Buyanto Sayntsakovich Sanzhiyev, a well-known Siberian historian, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, an Honoured Scientist of Buryatia, were held on November 12, 2012. The article attempts to give a general review of Sanzhiyev's historiography work and to acquaint a reader with his pedagogical, social and political activity, as well as to understand sources and principles of his educational practice, moral standards and human qualities.
