The article contains a complex survey and analysis of social response to the implementation of a scientific and publishing project designed to brign Polish-Siberian historical and source heritage into Russian scientific and cultural use. Some controversial opinions on the project and its assessments are given within the framework of dichotomy the «East–West». Ultra conservative-exstremist side of the latter was reflected in the Siberian printed media by aggressive attacs on the release of earlier unknown foreign (Polish) sources on regional Siberian history, as well as by defamation of such work from the outright chauvinistic and xenophobic point of views. However, the observations and assessments of the same project are conceptually another in the special scientific literature. The scientists are discussing the priorities of the started project, its methodological principles, ways and forms of further project implementation.
