The article deals with issues related to the residence of Kazakhs in the territory of Russia. The statistical data of the first All-Union population censuses on the number of Kazakhs in the Russian Republic as part of the USSR are given. Areas of dense residence of the Kazakh people in the Russian Federation are considered taking into account the latest population censuses.
