Abstract

The article presents key themes raised within the round-table discussion that took place at ISU. Professors and master-degree students of Irkutsk State University and Hokkaido University considered the problems of studying indigenous peoples and the way the Russian and Japanese governments elaborate policies aimed at preserving indigenous peoples’ languages and cultural and economical practices.
