Poles' Contribution to the Business Development in Novonikolaevsk (1890s – 1917)

Abstract

The article objective is to study the contribution of the Polish Diaspora in the entrepreneurship development of Novonikolaevsk city at the turn of the XIX–XX centuries. The author solves the following tasks: counting a number of Polish entrepreneurs, identifying business sectors, where Poles made a notable contribution. The paper considers Poles’ participation in public life of the city. It paid a special attention to the history of several entrepreneurial dynasties, on their cases it is possible to trace the features of the Polish Diaspora formation in Novonikolevsk. The author concludes about the decisive role of the Roman Catholic parish in the Polish Diaspora unification.
