The Jewish Community of Irkutsk in a Context of Time

Abstract

Article is devoted to the unique edition “Irkutsk Jewish: two hundred plots from life of a 200-years community”. The degree of a level of scrutiny of a problematics, source bases of the book, its novelty in the modern scientific and scientific-journalistic literature is shown. The analysis is given to illumination in the book of a history of becoming of a community, the basic events which have influenced development of culture, formation(education), a science, public health services and sports in Irkutsk on an extent more than two centuries. The role of the book in studying a role ethnoconfessional communities in development of the large regional center is determined.
