The article analyzes individual episodes from the life of the former head of the Irkutsk Security Department, Mitrofan Leontievich Gavrilov. The milestones of his Siberian career and official activities aimed at combating political crime, as well as military espionage, which had a significant impact on the course of the First Russian Revolution in the Irkutsk province, and the possible course of the Russo-Japanese War, are examined. Two assassination attempts by members of the local organization of the party of socialists-revolutionaries on M.L. Gavrilova. This demonstrates his productive work in the fight against revolutionaries in the Irkutsk province.
