O. N. Kationov, V. V. Lyagaev
Abstract
The process of adaptation of representatives of the former merchant class in Siberia in Soviet society in the 1920s is considered. The article presents various examples of adaptation of the largest representatives of the pre-revolutionary business elite, based on such a source as the case of the restoration of electoral rights, the author supplemented the factual material on the activities of some representatives of the former merchants after the establishment of Soviet power in Siberia. For the first time, an attempt was made to consider the reasons for the return of former merchants to entrepreneurship in the conditions of the NEP. The author comes to the conclusion that the first half of the 1920s was the most favorable period for the adaptation of this category of “former”.
