Author(s)
А. A. Ivanov
Abstract
The article is devoted to the history of the participation of criminal convicts in the construction of the Amur Railway in 1910–1916. The author establishes the total number of “involuntary” builders, the types of work they were engaged in, the amount of wages, and also describes the features of working and living conditions. Much space in the article is devoted to the prisoners of the Aleksandrovsk Central Convict Prison, who participated in the years 1910–1913, along with the convicts of the Nerchinsk mountain district, in the construction of the western branch of the Amur Railway.
