Abstract
The article is devoted to the journalistic activity of Ivan Ivanovich Popov in the Moscow period of his work. In early 1906, with the introduction of martial law in Irkutsk, Popov went abroad, and then to Moscow, where he actively collaborated with the newspaper Siberia, for seven years publishing articles on its pages on the most pressing topics of Russian reality: about public selfgovernment, the situation of women in the country, the crises of the capitalist system, education and health care of various segments of the population etc. His sharp and topical publications were a noticeable phenomenon of Siberian journalism, attracted the close attention of a wide variety of readers, “awakened” public opinion, and brought up love for their land in Siberians. The works of I. I. Popov, “a Siberian not by blood, but by recognition,” in the newspaper “Siberia” is an important historical source, and nowadays has not lost its great importance for specialists studying the political history of a vast region.
