Abstract
This article explores how the police, justices of the peace, and the population interacted in enforcing criminal law against gambling card games in the Yakutsk Oblast at the turn of the 20th century. The author concludes that an important aspect of law enforcement was the interaction between justices of the peace, the police, and society, ensuring effective communication in criminal proceedings.
