The Evolution of Decembrism in Siberia: The polemic of S. F. Koval with G. P. Shatrova

Abstract
The article displays the essence of discussion between historians G. P. Shatrova and S. F. Koval, 1970s–1980s, about Decembrist’s ideology evolution in their Siberian period. Though both researchers followed Marxist–Leninist method, their understanding of the problem was different. According to the author’s opinion, G.P. Shatrova happened to be a representative of a new direction in the Soviet Desembrists study at the second half of 20th century, as the same time S. F. Koval remained a believer of classic historiographical principles advanced by outstanding Soviet researcher of Decembrism M. V. Nechkina.
