Performance of Notarial Functions by Administrative Bodies in the Transbaikal Region, 1851–1896

Abstract
The article examines the process of implementing notarial functions by administrative bodies in the Transbaikal Region before 1896. Examples of notarial activities carried out by the Regional Administration, the District Court, and local self-government bodies are provided. It is noted that notarial powers were distributed among the authorities depending on the significance of the notarial act. The notarial activities of administrative bodies laid the foundation for the further development of the notarial system in Transbaikalia.
