Abstract
The main objective of the publication is to study the views of the Okhotsk district police captain S.A. Khersonsky on the development of the Olsko-Kolyma tract in the late 19th century. The article contains an analysis of a previously unpublished epistolary source - a travel diary of a Siberian official. It is noted that the development of the Olsko-Kolyma tract and its introduction into economic circulation was necessary to improve the supply of essential goods to the population and reduce their cost. S. A. Khersonsky made a significant contribution to the formation of the region's trade and transport infrastructure, interacted with representatives of the administration and local residents.
