Abstract
The article analyzes the controversial aspects of General M. Janin's stay in Siberia during the Civil War. Based on a historical and geopolitical approach, the article interprets the relationship between the Allies, as well as the role of A. V. Kolchak in realizing the geopolitical interests of Great Britain in the Asian part of Russia. The presented analysis allows us to shift the focus from social and ideological factors to the geopolitical reasons for the failure of the intervention and, consequently, the defeat of the White movement.
