Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of motives, mechanism, and features of the formation of the image of a “pest” in the agriculture of Eastern Siberia in the 1930s. It presents a microhistorical approach, revealing the implementation of state agricultural policy from the specific to the general in the late 1930s. Repression of “saboteurs” was legitimized by popular approval or the creation of such approval in the press by collectives of workers, employees, and collective farmers. The phenomenon of “sabotage” shaped the social space and mass consciousness of rural society.
