Abstract
This article examines the reaction of former White Army officers living in the Irkutsk
District to the 1927 “Military Alert” in the USSR. It also evaluates the substantive potential of the
information reports issued by the Irkutsk District Department of the OGPU to the regional party
leadership. The social characteristics of former White Army officers and their behavioral patterns are
related to the international situation in 1927. The nuances of these individuals' public sentiments are
interpreted within the context of the development of Soviet society and the state, taking into account
the specific circumstances of the Irkutsk District.
