The Society of Former Political Convicts in Irkutsk is the
Guardian of Revolutionary History

Abstract
The author in the article set a goal to consider the contribution of the Irkutsk and East
Siberian Regional Association of the Society of Political Prisoners to the study of revolutionary history. It is proved that the former political prisoners, united in the Society, were engaged not only in
material support, but also organized a search for materials in the archives, created a Club in Irkutsk
for educational work. The author concludes that the former revolutionaries, as a result of archival
work, accumulated a large array of sources on the history of the revolution in Siberia, contributed to
the political and educational work of the Soviet state.
