The article discusses a little-known episode from the history of Orthodox missionary work on the territory of the Turukhansk region related to the construction of Trinity field сhurch in the early 1850s. The materials of the correspondence which preceded that event are presented. These documents give the idea of living conditions and activities of the Orthodox parish clergy in remote Northern areas with harsh climatic conditions, as well as reaction of spiritual and secular authorities of different levels to the baptism of the indigenous Siberian peoples. The author highlightes data on the administration and business oweners interaction in the development of Siberian North and incorporation of its population in the economic and cultural space of the Empire.
