Abstract

The article examines the processes or territorial mobility of Siberian in particular Irkutsk merchants which was related to migration of the merchant class from Siberia to the Eropean part of Russia in the second half of the XIXth – the early XXth centuries. The mechamisms of merchants’ adaptation in the host community are considered. The author focuses on qualitative and quantitative indicators of territorial mobility, its temporal characteristics, business strategy of the descendants of Irkuts merchants, forms of their self-coordination in the host community, characteristics of territorial identity, charity.
