Abstract
The article concerns the professor V. P. Oltarzhevsky’s memories about the beginning of his work at the Department of General History of Irkutsk State University in 1960-s. It reflects the character of the epoch. The author considers administration of the faculty and the department, teachers and students, specifics of teaching and research work at the university in the sixties.
