Abstract

The article considers the place and role of Irkutsk, which, in the period of the Far Eastern Republic played the role of the Comintern’s outpost in the Far East. A change of the political vector of the world revolution resulted in a shift of the sphere of interest of the Soviet Russia, Russian Communist Party of the Bolsheviks and the 3rd International. Since that time onward it embraced Mongolia, China, Tibet, Japan and Korea, and the work with these countries was carried out by the Mongolian and Tibetan department of the Far Eastern secretariat of the Comintern based in Irkutsk.
