Abstract

The phenomenon of mass political repression among the commanders of the red army in 1937–1938 continues to attract the attention of historians and the public. Historiography of this problem is represented by dozens of scientific works, which reflect the results of research on the process of internal political cleansing in the army and Navy. However, information about some of the repressed commanders is quite scarce. For example, the commander of the 28th cavalry division of the Kiev military district, a participant in the First world war and Civil war, the order bearer of the brigade commander N. F. Fedorov is aware that he was arrested, “physical methods of influence” were applied to him during the preliminary investigation [2, p. 211] and that he was serving a term of imprisonment [2, p. 414]. Detailed acquaintance with materials of archival and investigative case of P-62234 (in three volumes) stored in archive of Management of FSB of Russia across St. Petersburg and the Leningrad region allows to restore unknown information on the repressed brigade commander.
