Development of the Russian Music and Educational School in Countries North and South America after the Revolution of 1917

Abstract

The article discusses the features of the development of domestic musical vocational education in the countries of North and South America in the conditions of the emigration process of 1917–1930s. The purpose of the study is to substantiate the preservation abroad of domestic musical and educational traditions in the 20th century as a result of the emigration of Russian (Soviet) practicing musicians. Objectives of the work: to identify the reasons for the flight from the country of compatriots – music profile specialists; identify the most popular geographic directions of migration; identify factors contributing to and hindering the professional activities of Russian (Soviet) teachers and performers who find themselves in new socio-political conditions; to substantiate the influence of domestic musical and educational traditions on the musical and cultural life of foreign countries. The paper provides statistics on the number of emigrants and their social affiliation; The names and surnames of teachers, musicians, organizers and teachers of musical educational institutions in the USA and Argentina have been updated; The article discusses the features of educational activities and the educational process in educational institutions of the musical profile of the countries of North and South America, carried out by representatives of the domestic musical vocational education. The study showed that the activities of national emigration after the revolution of 1917 and the Civil War had an impact on the development of musical culture and musical education in the United States and Argentina. Carrying out pedagogical activity in these countries, Russian (Soviet) musicians contributed to raising the prestige of the domestic model of music vocational education on the world stage in the 20th century.
