Behavioral Strategy and Intellectual Choice of the Clergy of Yakutia in the 1920s

Abstract

The article examines the intellectual practices and behavioral motivation of the clergy of Yakutia in the first decades of Soviet power, presents various aspects of adaptive variability, gives brief characteristics and psychological portraits of priests-intellectuals of the national outskirts of the first quarter of the twentieth century. Previously unexplored historical sources (egos-documents and materials of judicial investigation cases) about the activities of clergy representatives in the first years of Soviet power were identified and introduced into scientific circulation the practices of their adaptations to new historical conditions were considered. Information about the old Church (Tikhon) clergy is revealed, the conditions for the emergence of the renewal community in Yakutsk are shown, and its administrative apparatus is defined.
