Two Views on the Construction of Railways in Eastern Siberia (Based on the Works of the Siberian Gold Miner Yakov Frizer)

Abstract

The article deals with the problems of the railway construction in the Eastern Siberia at the end of the XIX – the beginning of the XX centuries, processes of origin of the local Siberian initiative, which was opposed to the official line of the central government, which was rather inspired by political and strategic interests. The article focuses on the activities of Ya. D. Frizer, Irkutsk merchant and Jewish gold merchant, who actively participated in discussing railway projects.
