Activities of the Bargut Military Manlai-Bator Damdinsuren in 1912–1917: On the Materials of the Russian Archives

Abstract
The article is based on the materials of Russian archives and published sources. The authors analyzed some issues from the life and work of the Bargut commander Manlai-Bator Damdinsuren in 1912–1917. They found out that Damdinsuren led the first Barga delegation to Urga in 1912. He also applied for the position of the Barga fudutun, gathered a detachment for the expulsion of the Kharachin detachment from Hailar in 1917. This major political figure, in addition to his military talent, possessed firm principles that caused rejection both by the lamaist environment of the Bogdo Gegen and by the amban of Barga.
