Legal Regulation of Hunting in the Kamchatka Okrug in the Second Half of the 1920s

Abstract
The article is devoted to the legal regulation of hunting in the Kamchatka Okrug in the second half of the 1920s. Particular attention is paid to the mandatory decrees issued by the Kamchatka District Revolutionary Committee in order to ensure the rational use of commercial hunting resources. They established the rules for hunting (its dates and places, permitted and prohibited methods), regulated the procedure for registering hunters and issuing hunting licenses, determined the territorial boundaries of game reserves and nature reserves, and also prescribed liability for violations in this area. Analysis of local mandatory regulations allows us to obtain valuable information about measures to restore hunting resources (hunting bans, organization of sable reserves), the specifics of various types of hunting for fur-bearing animals, the division of animals into “harmful” and “useful”, features of the use of strychnine to kill predators and others aspects. It was established that mandatory regulations made it possible to detail the norms of central legislation in the field of hunting and adapt them to local conditions.
