The article deals with a historiographic analysis of the Collection of Scientific Papers «Siberian exile» («Exiled revolutionaries in Siberia…»), which has been published by Historical Faculty of Irkutsk State University since 1973. The author analyzes contents of the issues and emphasizes the main directions of research, carried out by scientists for 40 years. The author proves the idea that this journal enabled scientific studies on political and criminal exile of the XVIIth–XXth centuries, and fulfilled a coordinating function for experts from different regions of Siberia and the Far East.
