Abstract
Buddhist confession traditionally represents an independent political force, becoming the most powerful government institution that the MPRP had to face after the victory of the 1921 revolution. The Lama question became especially acute after the departure of the BogdoGegen, when theocratic Mongolia turned into a secular state.
