The article discusses the liquidation of the old financial and credit system in the Irkutsk province during the revolutionary events and the Civil war. The main attention is paid to the nationalization of the financial sector, primarily public financial management and private banks. The elimination of the old financial arrangements were in Siberia their characteristics. The first attempt was made in the first half of 1918, but the temporary fall of Soviet power did not allow to complete this process. Back to the nationalization of private property and capital were able to return after the defeat of Kolchak's regime in the early 1920. On concrete examples the organization of the creation of a financial mechanism of the new power, difficult questions of interaction of the region and the Central authorities of Siberia and Russia reveals. New materials on the nationalization of private banks in Irkutsk and the consequences of these processes for their depositors are presented.
