From History of the Separate Labour Battalions in Udmurtia in 1945–1948

Abstract

The article deals a some aspects of a life and activity of the prisoners of war (PoWs) from the 3 separate labour battalions that were situated in Udmurtia in 1945–1948. The research realized on a basis of the archival documents. A part of the materials was included in a science use for the first time. The paper contains the information about a labour activity of the PoWs, national structure of the special contingent. The author presents the data of a quantity of PoWs in the battalions. The information about periods of the existence of the subunits for foreign special contingent is revealed. The analysis of archival materials allows to state that a level of PoW’s mortality in the separate labour battalions that were situated in the republic was less 15 %. The PoWs from this special subunits took part in a construction of a objects of the Soviet military ministry.
