Abstract

The article studies some aspects of the national liberation movement in Inner Mongolia, with the participation of Buddhist clergy. The author analyzes the issues related to the struggle of the southern Mongols against plowing pastures, an uprising led by Prince Uday, the beginning of the confrontation between Bogdo-gegen and Zhangzha- Hutukhta. Representatives of the Buddhist clergy took an active part in the Duguylan movement in Inner Mongolia, especially in the areas of Ordos, Ehe-Zuu and Chirim. After the proclamation of a theocratic monarchy in Outer Mongolia, the Bogdo-Gegen and the Zhangzhang-hutukht, supported by the government of the Republic of China, began to confront each other. Prince Uday was a very religious man; this was one of the reasons for the uprising. He put Buddhist saints at the head of his troops. The publication also studies the relationship between Hulun Buir and the government of Outer Mongolia. The Hailar nobility invariably emphasized the religious component of the relationship with Outer Mongolia, and appealed to Jebzundamba-hutuhta primarily for receiving blessings and Buddhist teachings. This was the stage of attraction of the daurs to Mongolian history, culture and language. The scientists tried to present the daur as descendants of Khasar, the younger brother of Genghis Khan. The Mongolian nationalists in their struggle tried to use the figure of the great commander and his descendants – Genghisides, even plans were developed for the export of the relic of Genghis Khan from Ordos to Outer Mongolia.
